Round 8: Vikings Juniors Match Reports

Under 14’s Match Report
What a great competitive game played today from our U14s against Kempsey Cannonballs 39-7 Kempsey’s way.
With only 13 of our team able to take the field due to illness etc and some of these boys recovering themselves, they played the game with 100% effort and determination. Such a great game to watch, well done.
Alex Slavin 3, Sam Young 2, Sam Ayton 1.

Under 16’s Match Report
The Under 16 Vikings travelled to Crescent Head to take on the Kempsey Cannonballs.
The clear skies and sunshine were welcomed by all and made for perfect conditions for this fixture.
The game opened with some long sequences of unbroken play, where the much lighter Vikings’ forward pack held strong against the much heavier cannonballs. An early try to the Vikings was soon matched by a cannonballs counterattack and a converted try in response.
With only three reserves this week, the coaching staff asked many of the young Vikings to step up, and step up they did! Leading by example in the forwards were No 8 Harry Brown and front row warrior Seth Martin who both dominated their opposite numbers. Several Vikings put on their strongest individual performances for the season including Felix Hurdle, Tom Moore, Paddy Field and Hugh Conaghan.
With their noses in front at the halftime break, the Vikings made some subtle changes to their attacking patterns which were quickly converted into more points in the second half.
In what could only be described as a disciplined performance the visitors finished the match as winners 29-14.
The coaches awarded 1 point to Seth Martin, 2 points to Felix and 3 points to Tom Moore!
The player’s player was Seth Martin.
Well done Lads!!!

Under 18’s Match Report
Great game by the boys on Saturday. Our fowards dominated throughout the game which allowed the backs to show their class. Big day out for Evan who threatened to make breaks everytime he touched the ball. Sam Wood showed his skills at fullback, threatening the defence each time he returned the ball. The big praise has to go the forward pack who worked tirelessly all day. Big Lachie had his best game this year, with Calum dominating our and their line out and Tom Strahorn was everywhere.
3 points – Evan Lipovac
2 Points – Tom Stachorn
1 Point – Sam Wood
