Round 10: Vikings vs SCU Marlins u16s & u14s
Vikings v Marlins u16s
As the clouds rolled in the Vikings had their eyes set on heading north to raid the Marlin’s home.
Both teams were running short on troops and both had to find something special if they were to walk away victorious.
The first 15 minutes was a back and forward wet weather grind with both teams having chances but executing was tough.
Our fan favourite Riley Trotter made an entry to the game at the 15min mark and made some damaging runs and tackles but sustained a season ending knee injury. The game was halted and a early halftime called. The boys went back to the sheds to regroup and came to the realisation that they were to play the second half with no subs.
As the second half commenced our boys got straight back into the wet weather grind knowing they were down to 15 men they dug deep and rucked the ball from halfway to have Harry Brown bust over the line for the opening points of the match. The Marlins started to throw the ball around with some damaging backline moves but our backs held strong and held them out.
With 10 to go Vikings were gifted a penalty just off centre 30mtrs out and Joe Post nailed it to make it an 8 nil margin
The Marlins fought hard all the way to the end but just couldn’t find the line when needed and the game finished in a 8-0 win to the Vikings.
Our young Vikings effort, commitment, passion and desire to win, shown today is something of which all past and present Vikings would be proud.
Our points:
3- Harry Brown
2 – Tom Moore
1 – Joe Post
Players Player: Riley Trotter
Vikings v Marlins u14s
These 10 U14s boys braved the weather to play Marlins ( also playing with 10 ) in Coffs today . Although the boys didn’t win it ended up a fun game with some good runs, kicks , tries and conversions. Great Rugby spirit from both sides.
